Before arrival at NCCU

  1. We strongly suggest that you obtain medical insurance that covers any medical expenses during your stay in Taiwan.
  2. If the place of issue on your passport is not the People’s Republic of China, you will need to apply for a visa by yourself.  For further information, please visit the website of the Bureau of Consular Affairs

Course Selection

When the Course Selection System opens, you will need to log in using your student ID number as your account and “nccu + your birth date” as your password.  For more information about course selection, please refer to the following document.

If you are looking for the  English taught courses, you may go to the following website https//qrysub.nccu.edu.tw/ .  First, choose the language and then click the “Advanced Query” button, and choose the “lecture language” button, you will see all of the English taught courses at NCCU.

Most students may not be able to enroll in their desired courses during the first stage of course selection. You can still add or drop courses during the add-drop period later.   If you have any further questions, please consult the teaching assistant of your department.

  Accommodation

Exchange student is not guaranteed to have a space in the on-campus dormitory and need to go through the lottery process.  The type of the dorm cannot be changed once it announced.

  4. For refund policyAccording to the Guidelines and Regulations of the Student Housing Program, Article 13, the standards of the refund (supplementary payment) of the dormitory residence are as follows Cancellation of the dormitory residence 2 weeks prior to the beginning of the class will receive full refund. Cancellation of the dormitory residence from 2 weeks to one day before the beginning of the class is required to pay a fee of NT$500 for "delay of canceling the dormitory residence" before a full refund can be issued or an enrollment registration document is replaced. For students who have already checked in to the dormitory, in additional to the NT$500 fee for "delay of canceling the dormitory residence", students have to pay off the accumulated expenses of "delay of canceling the dormitory residence" for the duration starting the day of residence, before a refund can be issued or an enrollment document is replaced. Cancellation of dormitory residence within 10 days after the classes begin will receive a refund of 2/3 of the total payment.  Submitting the cancellation of dormitory residence between 10 days, after the classes begin, and 1/3 of the semester base day will receive a refund of 1/2 of the total payment. Cancellation of dormitory residence after 1/3 of the semester base day will not receive any refund.
  5. To check in the on-campus dorm You need to come to the R&D center at office hour to get your student ID card first to check in the dorm.  But if you arrive NCCU after 5 p.m., you can check in at the dorm info desk directly.

 

Tuition Fees

According to the agreement, exchange students are exempt from paying tuition fees.   Upon enrollment, you are required to pay the accommodation fee, a deposit of NTD 1,000 (applicable only for students staying in on-campus dormitories and refundable upon check-out), and the Student Safety Insurance Fee.   The actual amount will be shown on the registration payment notice.

 

Health Exam

All newly-admitted international exchange students are required to complete the health examination. For more details, you can check the attached “Medical Exam Requirements for Short-Term Students.”   

We strongly suggest that you finish the health examination in your own country, and hang in the following Certificates or Proofs to us.
1. Measles and Rubella Immunization (MMR) Certificates or Proof of Positive Antibody Titers

2. Chest X-ray for Tuberculosis (TB)

Results should then be submitted to the NCCU Health Center within a month after the start of the semester. 

 

Fire Safety Workshop

All exchange students residing in the on-campus dormitory or the i-House are required to attend the Fire Safety Workshop. Students who fail to participate will be asked to vacate their residence.    The fire drill will be held on February 12, 2026. Students who are unable to attend will need to arrange a make-up session on their own.
