Fees:
The application fee and regular tuition fee of the host college are waived for a visiting student during his/her exchange period. All other costs (for example, meals, lodging, travel, required medical insurance, books, personal spending, incidental university fees, and, if any, language course tuition) will be the responsibility of the exchange student.
Chinese Language courses:
If you are interested in learning Chinese, OIC of NCCU will help you to register the Chinese Language courses and please read the following information carefully.
Academic classes + Part-Time Mandarin Class: this will be an ideal choice for students who need to take credit-given academic courses but also want to learn some Mandarin during their study at NCCU. The Mandarin class will be a 3 credit course (54 lecture hours in total).
1. The course is only available to international exchange students who choose the “Part-time+Academic” module and international degree students. International exchange students and international degree students with nationality of China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan are not eligible for Part-time Mandarin course.
2. The course will be added by OIC to your course list. Students who register to OIC don't need to choose it on the course selection phases. Please spare this time period for the Part-time Mandarin course while choosing your academic courses.
3. If you do register to OIC, please check whether the Part-time Mandarin is showed on your course list when you choose the courses on phase one of course selection. It should have been added at that time.
4. The Part-time Mandarin course is not open for adding on phase three(on-line add/cancel) and four(manual add/cancel) of the course selection phases.
5. For Total-Beginner, please choose "Basic Mandarin" on Mon 4~7pm. For Non-Beginner, please choose "Practical Mandarin" on Tue 4~7pm. Chinese Language Center suggests students who took Mandarin before, but the total lecture hour is below 100 hours choose the "Basic Mandarin". However, your previous Mandarin course level and intensity is varied by student, please decide on your own whether "Basic Mandarin" or " Practical Mandarin" suits you better. Once you decide it, you cannot change it.
6. The first class attendance is required. The first week class for " Practical Mandarin"(Non-Beginner) will be the placement test and the lecture will start on the second week. The placement test classroom will be announced on the OIC website and the assigned class according to the placement test result will also be announced on OIC website. Students please check the OIC website for it. "Basic Mandarin"(Total-Beginner) doesn't require placement test.
7.Please see the following for the regulation for "Basic Mandarin" and " Practical Mandarin". If you cannot follow the regulation, please don't register the course.
"Basic Mandarin" - Total-Beginner - Mon 4~7pm
1.Only open to international exchange and international degree students. For international degree students who take this course, no credit will be given and it will not be recognized as graduate credits.
2. First class attendance is required. If missing first class, students will be graded zero, please cancel the course on your own.
3. Not available for adding on phase three and four of the course selection.
4. Students with more than 3 times absent at the random taking attendance will be graded zero.
5. The classroom and class list will be announced on OIC website.
"Practical Mandarin" - Non-Beginner- Tue 4~7pm
1. Only open to international exchange and international degree students. For international degree students who take this course, no credit will be given and it will not be recognized as graduate credits.
2. First class attendance is required. If missing first class, students will be graded zero, please cancel the course on your own.
3. Not available for adding on phase three and four of the course selection.
4. Placement test will be held on first class and the assigned classroom will announced according to the placement test result.
5. Students with more than 3 times absent at the random taking attendance will be graded zero.
6. The placement classroom and list will be announced on OIC website.
