Congratulations to College of Communication alumnus Umas Suqluman and the TITV Daily News team on their outstanding achievement on the international stage!

The 2026 WIBN Awards for Excellence in Journalism, organized by the World Indigenous Broadcast Network (WIBN), were held on September 3 in Kautokeino, Norway. Six Indigenous media organizations from around the world were selected as finalists.

The TITV Daily News team stood out with its special report, At the Scene of the Overflow: Indigenous Community Rescue Efforts During the Matai’an Creek Disaster, winning the inaugural WIBN Award for Excellence in Journalism!

Umas Suqluman is an alumnus of the Department of Journalism and the In-Service Master’s Program at the College of Communication, National Chengchi University (NCCU). He has long worked alongside the Taiwan Indigenous Television (TITV) team to document and communicate issues and cultures concerning Taiwan’s Indigenous peoples. Through professional journalism, he has helped bring greater visibility to Indigenous communities—their experiences, actions, and voices.

Their years of dedicated work have now received international recognition, bringing the stories of Taiwan’s Indigenous peoples to audiences around the world.

Once again, congratulations to Umas Suqluman and the TITV news team! We celebrate your remarkable achievement and are incredibly proud to have Umas as a member of the College of Communication alumni community.
