The OIC Mandarin Table Program is designed to enhance the Mandarin-speaking abilities of international students while fostering interactions between them and domestic students. To achieve this, NCCU domestic students will be recruited as "table leaders" to facilitate weekly discussions on various topics with international students during lunchtime. Through this setup, the program aims to create a relaxed and immersive environment for Mandarin practice and cultural exchange.
Weekly discussion sessions will be held, with exceptions during midterm and final exam weeks, national holidays, or major university events. Session schedule will be announced by the OIC.
Each session lasts for 50 minutes, starting at 12:10 PM and ending at 1:00 PM. A session includes a 5-minute icebreaker, a 40-minute discussion, and a 5-minute wrap-up.
1 table leader will facilitate the discussion with 3 international students. The actual number of tables per session will be determined based on the registration form.
The venue will be the study room of the NCCU-iHouse (address: No. 17, Ln. 112, Sec. 2, Xiuming Rd., Wenshan Dist., Taipei City). The actual event venue will be based on the OIC's announcement. A free meal will be provided for each participant and table leader.
For those interested in registering, please carefully read the registration instructions and carefully assess your available time before committing. When participating, please respect the rules set by the OIC to avoid wasting valuable resources.
As the main language of this event is Mandarin, it is recommended that participants be able to speak Mandarin in sentences or have at least reached Level A2 of TOCFL. If you have never learned Mandarin, we encourage you to take a Mandarin course first.
Registration for each session will open two weeks before the event starts. Please be sure to register in the Enrollment Service System before the deadline, as late applications will not be accepted.
Each session requires separate registration, and those who have registered for the first session may still register for subsequent ones.
All NCCU international students, whether degree students or exchange students, are eligible to register. However, priority will be given to reserving spots for upper-year international degree students.
Registration does not guarantee acceptance. The OIC will send an email notification regarding the registration results before the event begins.
Accepted participants must attend the event on time. If you fail to notify the OIC in advance and are absent without reason or late by more than 10 minutes on the event day, you will not be allowed to register for subsequent sessions this semester.
After the event, please cooperate in filling out the feedback form. Any special instructions for each session will be listed on the registration form for that session. Photographs and videos will be taken during the event, and related materials will be used on the OIC website and social media. The OIC reserves the right to modify, change, interpret, or cancel the event. Any changes will be announced on the website, and no further notice will be provided.
