The College of Communication at National Chengchi University (NCCU) held its 2025 Commencement Ceremony on the afternoon of June 8 at the College Theatre. Graduates from the Departments of Journalism, Radio and Television, Advertising, along with those from the Master’s and Doctoral Programs in Communication, gathered to celebrate the culmination of their academic journeys. The event was attended by faculty, families, and friends, all joining in to witness this milestone moment.
The ceremony began in a packed auditorium, filled with vibrant energy and heartfelt anticipation. Graduates, dressed in academic regalia and holding flowers, were seen taking commemorative photographs with loved ones. The venue was filled with joyful laughter, warm embraces, and sincere well wishes, creating a touching and festive atmosphere.
In his opening remarks, Dean Jyh-Jian Sheu congratulated the graduates and offered reflections on the meaning of academic completion. “Today’s graduation marks your arrival at the summit of knowledge,” he stated. “You have gained not only professional expertise in communication, but also the courage to seek truth—an enduring asset for the journey ahead.” Dean Sheu also commended the students for their perseverance throughout coursework, fieldwork, and thesis writing, and reminded them that learning continues far beyond the classroom.
He further expressed appreciation to faculty members and advisers for their dedication, and extended gratitude to the parents and families who provided steadfast support behind the scenes. “The sweetness of graduation is the fruit of your own effort, but it could not have ripened without those who quietly stood by your side,” Sheu noted.
One of the ceremony’s most symbolic moments was the tassel-turning ritual, in which professors turned the tassels for each graduate—signifying the formal conferral of academic achievement and the transition toward future aspirations. The auditorium resonated with applause as many graduates, visibly moved, shared emotional farewells and took final photos with their mentors and classmates.
As the event concluded, the College of Communication expressed its sincere hopes for the graduating class. Whether entering the fields of research, journalism, marketing, public relations, or creative industries, graduates are encouraged to carry forward the values of integrity, creativity, and passion, becoming agents of dialogue and positive change in society.
