On Saturday, June 10, 2023, the College of Communication at National Chengchi University (NCCU) organized a special movie event at Vie Show Taipei Hsin Yi for its faculty members, students, and staff. The highly anticipated film, "Workers (做工的人)," provided a unique opportunity to come together and enjoy an afternoon of cinematic storytelling.

Directed by Fen-Fen Cheng (鄭芬芬), an alumnus of NCCU's Department of Radio & Television, "Workers" held special significance for the college. Many of you might be familiar with her previous work, as Cheng adapted the book "Worker," written by Li-Ching Lin (林立青), into a successful TV drama in 2020 and won the Golden Bell Award for Best Miniseries or Television Film and for Best Directing for a Miniseries or Television Film.

The TV drama received accolades not only because of its captivating storytelling, but also due to the outstanding casting, which can be proved by the fact that the leading actor won the Golden Bell Award for Best Directing for a Miniseries or Television Film while the supporting actor was honored by winning the Best Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Television Film for the 56th Golden Bell Awards.

In this movie, Workers, as a successor of the TV drama, Fen-Fen Cheng takes us back in time, allowing us to delve into the lives of the characters portrayed in the drama, revealing how their relationships evolved and shaped them into who they are today. The film skillfully captured the complexities of the characters' lives and the challenges they faced, creating a connection with the audience on an emotional level.

COMM NCCU would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to Yae-Wei Wang (王亞維), Associate Professor of the College of Communication, NCCU, for bringing this special movie screening to fruition. We look forward to organizing more such events to continue celebrating our talented alumni's achievements and embracing the power of storytelling.
