National Chengchi University, 14th March - As the first Asian collaborator with Syracuse University, National Chengchi University (NCCU) is poised to lead the way in facilitating cross-cultural exchange and innovative research initiatives, further solidifying its position as a leading institution in the Asia-Pacific region. NCCU and Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communications marked a historic moment as they formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster collaborative initiatives in communication studies. NCCU proudly stands as the inaugural Asian partner of Syracuse University, marking a significant milestone in international academic collaboration.
Under the terms of the MoU, the College of Communication at NCCU and the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University will embark on joint endeavours encompassing research collaboration, seminar organization, and faculty and student exchange programs. Initial efforts will focus on enhancing teaching methodologies and advancing scholarly research within communications.
Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communications is a preeminent institution renowned for its rich legacy spanning over five decades. Nestled within the dynamic campus of Syracuse University in New York, the Newhouse School boasts a distinguished faculty comprising award-winning journalists, seasoned professionals, and esteemed scholars. Through its diverse undergraduate and graduate programs, the Newhouse School equips students with the knowledge, skills, and ethical framework necessary to excel in today's ever-evolving media landscape. Dr. Bradley W. Gorham, Associate Professor and Chair of Communications and Director of Global Partnerships at the Newhouse School, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting its potential to enrich educational experiences for students and faculty alike. Additionally, Professor Tammy Jih-Hsuan Lin, director of the International Master's Program in International Communication Studies (IMICS), highlighted the diverse student body that will benefit from the collaboration.
Before the signing of the ceremony, Dr. Gorham and Dr. Chock had the opportunity to tour the XR Hub NCCU, Meta's first XR-related collaboration project with a university in Taiwan. The firsthand experience with NCCU's cutting-edge facilities further cemented their appreciation for its dedication to technological innovation and academic excellence.
